School Spotlight

Pittsburg State University, Integrated direct marketing coursework is a natural fit for Pittsburg State’s Marketing Madness team, which is made up of students studying digital media, graphic design, graphics management, packaging graphics, print media and web/interactive media in the Department of Graphics and Imaging Technologies. Led by Associate Professor Andrea Kent-McConnaughey, students in the Digital and Variable Data Class are spearheading recruitment of fellow students to deliver Marketing Madness success.

Mountwest Community & Technical College’s Graphic Design AAS Program is small, but under the leadership of Associate Professor Julie Terry, the West Virginia school is holding its own in Marketing Madness. Engagement is key to the program, with students acting as campus leaders, working with local businesses, serving as mentors, and attending key design industry conferences. Professor Terry is using this competition as an opportunity for students to learn more about marketing and business, to connect with job opportunities, and earn a certificate for their portfolios and resumes.

The Kean Association of Marketing (KAM) was founded in 2019 with the main goal of providing a comfortable and engaging environment to share, educate, and nurture Kean University students’ marketing interests. KAM has 76 enrolled members, including faculty advisor Dr. Min Chung Han and e-board President Alex Savage, who are leading KAM’s efforts in the Marketing Madness competition. KAM is utilizing their combined marketing knowledge to recruit students through social media, email, flyers, and word of mouth. It’s all hands on deck!

Ensign College Adjunct faculty member Lavinia Anderl is leading Marketing Madness efforts at Ensign College in Salt Lake City, Utah. She will be working through the Direct Effect micro-credential in class with her business students. They are working to recruit members from the very competitive Business Club, which regularly competes in both DECA and PBL events. Despite being an underdog as far as numbers, they are hoping to put points on the board.
